Biografia: Florian Cramer insegna Letteratura Comparata alla Freie Universitaet Berlin ed è impegnato nelle attività del Berlin Linux User Group e nell' organizzazione del festival Wizards of OS. I suoi testi e saggi sul software libero, sulla net.art, sul codice informatico come letteratura sono circolati in numerose mailing list e sono apparsi in diversi cataloghi e raccolte. Ha fatto parte della giuria dei premi di arte del software in festival come Transmediale (2001) e Read_me (2002).

Poetica: Florian Cramer ha scritto vari saggi nei quali si è occupato di software art, di net art, di free software, di net culture e di net literature.

Inoltre Cramer ha affrontato il tema del linguaggio paragonandolo ad un virus. La questione dei virus viene a legarsi con la questione del linguaggio, questo perché Florian Cramer afferma che il linguaggio stesso è un virus e ha le stesse influenze e implicazioni del diffondersi dei virus all’interno dei computer.

Florian Cramer, fautore della software art e del software libero, utilizza maggiormente quelle metodologie di lavoro che si confanno alle sue teorie. Sicuramente va sottolineato il suo attivismo in rete che si concretizza nella creazione di saggi, software, siti e lavori artistici che vadano controcorrente in base alla sua contestazione verso la chiusura di certi tipi d’’arte e di certe metodologie di creazione dei software. Fa riferimento, per quanto riguarda i suoi lavori artistici, alle metodologie neoiste e dadaiste sfruttando ad esempio alcune opere letterarie per ricrearle in modo originale.
