Poetica:
Laurent Mignonneau è un'artista multimediale e il lavoro che porta avanti assieme a Sommerer fa parte anche di quello che è oggi il sistema dell'arte tradizionale che offre grandi possibilità di visibilità. Nelle installazioni ha incluso principi scientifici e l'interattività del web seguendo l'ottica dell'espressione artistica ed è riuscita a passare da un contesto di media multimediale a contesti espositivi di grande prestigio in tutto il mondo.
Tanti lavori di Laurent Mignonneau si concentrano sulla vita artificiale cercando di illustrare i principi della vita, dell'evoluzione e dell'interazione delle persone con l'opera. Le sue opere esplorano sia la scienza che l'arte attraverso l'applicazione della biologia elettronica e gli studi sulla vita artificiale.
Nei loro lavori interattivi Mignonneau e Sommerer si preoccupano di raggiungere sempre una congruenza tra il contenuto dell'opera e la tecnologia impiegata per crearla.
La creazione e auto-organizzazione di "open systems/sistemi aperti" gioca un ruolo centrale nei loro lavori artistici. Interessate è la creazione di immagini flessibili e auto generate e, la creazione di strutture tonali sviluppate attraverso l'interazione del visitatore con le strutture sistemiche.
