Biografia:

Gopakumar R è nato a Kerala, India nel 1972. Rivela una propensione al disegno già nella scuola primaria ed è incoraggiato a proseguire gli studi artistici dai suoi insegnanti. Frequenta il Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikara, e successivamente ottiene il diploma in Storia dell'Arte al London Art College, Milnthorpe, UK. La sua arte è influenzata dal folklore indiano, dalle feste religiose locali e dai rituali Hindu. Tra i vari mezzi espressivi predilige l'arte digitale, con cui crea opere dove analizza i problemi della società contemporanea. Collabora attivamente con il movimento artistico letterario Immagine & Poesia di cui è il rappresentante ufficiale per l'India e il Bahrain.

Poetica:

Secondo R. Gopakumar, la libertà di espressione è la vera caratteristica dell'arte contemporanea che offre mezzi espressivi molteplici e differenti, ciò che realmente conta è il risultato finale che deve avere un alto valore estetico. Come gli scienziati, gli artisti di oggi devono approfondire la ricerca per creare nuove forme d'arte.
