Objectives:

The purpose of the TRA ART project was the creation of a regional network for contemporary art able to interact with the complex Tuscan cultural system and with the national and international networks, thanks to a concrete synergy between regional cultural policies and local ones. In particular the project wanted to emphasize the specificity of contemporary art, which digs its roots in modern art, but has also its own particular characteristics.

Sectors of Intervention:

Contemporary art

Activities (research/production/training/promotion):

• Experimentation of "spaces" (interdisciplinary and flexible public places for creativity and exchange, to experiment new ways of contemporary art production engaging young artists) and of"construction sites" (workshops in which established artists and young one collaborate).

• Support to territorial "events" (projects that involve wide areas and the participation of several institutions on a regional, national or international level).

• Research Activities (mainly aimed at the valorisation of contemporary repertoire).

• Educational Activities (thematic seminars),

• Creation of the Sistema informativo regionale per l'arte contemporanea, an online database established in 2003 and managed by the Museo Per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci since 2007. The information system documents the activities of artistic communication languages in the production of contemporary culture, paying particular attention to the intercultural practices of the public space.

• A book collection comprising:

- "TRA ART strumenti" and "TRA ART poetiche", publications dedicated to contemporary art and to the project TRA ART, regional network for contemporary art. - "TRA ARTmuseo", book collection coedited by Regione Toscana and Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci, dedicated to the artists that are active in Tuscany.

The idea of the project was proposed in 2002 by the Regione and it has been carried out until 2007.
