Alcune considerazioni sull’utilizzo mediatico del termine “hacker�?: differenze tra le versioni

Premessa

Elementi riscontrabili

Da una breve ricerca condotta prevalentemente in rete, emerge una complessiva sovrapposizione di questi due aspetti, tanto da farli apparire concettualmente e concretamente interdipendenti.

Banalmente, si osserverà che per il solo fatto di non avere un corrispettivo semantico nella nostra lingua, il vocabolo inglese suscita di per sé qualche incertezza e perplessità.

La maggior parte degli hacker sono dediti alla pirateria informatica: crackano software e protezioni database, aggirano firewall, si insinuano nei sistemi e nelle aree riservate, creano e diffondono virus.

L’alone di mistero che avvolge l’esperto in grado di insinuarsi furtivamente (e illegalmente) laddove gli altri non accedono (e non possono accedere) è il filo conduttore che accomuna la maggior parte delle esplicazioni fornite all’utente medio italiano. Viene da chiedersi se questa veste di segretezza e di minaccia venga attribuita all’hacker anche in contesti extranazionali. Ed ecco alcuni risultati:

Per tutti gli anni '80 e per gran parte degli anni '90 una notizia di "hacking", di intrusione, di frode informatica era una big news. John Markoff del "New York Times" è responsabile della notorietà – e dei conseguenti problemi – di Kevin Mitnick: i suoi articoli da prima pagina hanno costruito, volutamente o meno, l’icona del Condor, il concetto del "più pericoloso hacker del mondo". C'erano tre monitor, una tastiera enorme...e il mouse?? dov'è? Neanche un trackball? Niente. Minority Report: siamo nel futuro, al posto dei monitor, ci sono grandi schermi olografici, ma Tom Cruise muove con le mani delle psudo-finestre semitrasparenti. Niente mouse, niente tastiera. Certo questo è proprio un film di fantascienza, gli autori si sono inventati se non tutto quasi, quando non hanno preso a piene mani dai racconti di Philip K. Dick e in particolare da quello omonimo. Vediamo Hackers? si dai quello deve essere credibile. Nelle prime scene si vedono delle lettere

greche che scendono e salgono assieme a lettere e numeri in quantità. Quello è uno screensaver! Già, sembra così. E invece no! nella scena dopo mentre il nostro

protagonista scrive alla tastiera, lo pseudo-matrix-style è ancora li! Allora non è uno screensaver..che cos’è? Ma poi come fa a vedere ciò che scrive sulla tastiera? Bah, misteri del cinema. Quindi il mouse fa poco cool, fa poco figo, mentre la tastiera...evidentemente no!...
