Biografia:
Kroker Arthur nasce nel 1945d.c. a Red rock, (Ontario, Canada), ha studiato all' Università McMaster in Ontario, dove ha ricevuto un Phd in scienze politiche nel 1975. Kroker è scrittore e conferenziere sul tema del rapporto tra corpo e tecnologia. Insieme alla moglie Marilouise Kroker, è editore del giornale elettronico CTHEORY, che ha riscosso un grande successo di critica. Attualmente è professore di scienze politiche all' Università di Victoria, in Canada, è anche direttore del Pacific Centre for Technology and Culture.

Kroker sostiene che rispetto allo sviluppo tecnologico non si può cedere ad un atteggiamento di totale e acritico entusiasmo. Secondo Kroker i telelavoratori sono, forse più di chiunque altro usi il computer, schiavi della tecnologia. Inoltre, sostiene che, "la tecnologia offre certamente enormi vantaggi ma ciò che non riesce a garantire é la giustizia sociale". Egli aggiunge: "L'eccesso di informazioni a cui ha portato la globalizzazione dei media comporta una notevole perdita di significato umano." Conclude dicendo: "La società informatica è controllata da tecnocrati di due tipi diversi: i vecchi capitalisti, da una parte, gli idealisti messianici, dall'altra. Entrambi i gruppi sono attratti dalle possibilità di guadagno offerte da Internet. Questa società è la società della futilità culturale, dell'arroganza, della smodata fiducia nella perfettibilità tecnica e della loro convinzione di poter salvare l'uomo dalla morte." Tematiche:
