Finally, scholars who request it can access an archive of high quality digital 3D images, which allow to admire the works in a direct way overcoming perspective limitations of the traditional display. The researchers MUSINT - MuseoInterattivodellecollezioniegee e cipriotepresenti in Toscana' is just a "first set-up" hosted in the platform, which could be followed by other kind of exhibitions.

Sectors of Intervention:

Cultural heritage and new technologies

Activities (research/production/training/promotion):

Promotion of cultural heritage through new technologies (researching the best ways to apply technologies to cultural goods).

Origin and history:

MUSINT is a research project aimed at the realization of a virtual interactive museum, which structure can be used for different kind of exhibitions, adapting the content to customized reading and interaction modalities adequate to different kind of users (experts, students, families). The one dedicated to Aegean and Cypriot collections is the first set-up of this research and it is accessible on line starting from 1 June 2012. The project required the collaboration of researchers and technicians coming form different fields and with different competences in order to form a team able to create a work of wide perspectives. Archaeologists, historians and museologists worked for the realization of the contents and the educational itineraries; computer and multimedia communication experts were in charge of the interaction and interface modalities (Web, touch-screen, etc.) and of the development of the exhibition platform; 3D scan technicians, usingoptical scan and photogrammetric systems, took care of the realization of the tridimensional digital models of one third of the displayed works.
