So how do you make one? Here are some guidelines:

Of course it's common sense to have a goal - because without one, you may lose your way! It's easy to make pitstops and unnecessary turns, so it's essential to have one clear destination in order to stop wasting time and effort. The easiest way to get to a point is through a straight line, but we all know that's not possible when we're talking about real life. Well, as they say, it doesn't matter how long it takes, for as long as your reach your goal, then that's fine (not excellent, could be better).

How do you determine your destination? What are the steps to get to it?
Create your life map. To see what's in your future, you have to look back to your past. Observe the patterns, and connect the dots. Remember the concept behind twitter's "trending?" Well, from the trends in your past and present, you will more or less know what to expect in the future. But of course, you always have the opportunity to make a change for the better, so go for it.
Find your life purpose. A purpose is different from a want, a need or a dream. It is more close to an obligation - something you need to do, maybe something which benefits others, or the world, or an advocacy. But realize that all humans are on earth for a reason. Some of these reasons may be painful, difficult or harder than other peoples' purposes, but you can't really fully escape your real purpose in life - it's the direction you must take.
Know what your dreams are. Dreams, as opposed to life purpose, are controllable. Dreams are what you want to happen - it's up to you if you pursue them or not. If you have small dreams, then you will achieve small things. If you have big dreams, who knows what you are capable of achieving?
Establish short-term goals. It would be recommended that instead of having one huge goal, you break them down into smaller ones which, when interconnected, ultimately lead towards your big dream. People have the tendency to lose faith when trying to achieve on seemingly hard-to-reach ultimate dream, but find that finishing several small goals is much easier. It's okay to be ambitious, but not too overly-ambitious.
Fine-tune your destination over time. As you go through life, you will encounter hurdles and realities - so be open to small changes. Example, your dream is to be a gold medallist marathon runner, but had the sad fate of losing a leg in an accident. Learn to re-align your dream, given the current situation. Don't give up easily - just fine tune it based on reality.
Determine how to get to your destination. Part of your life plan is establishing the ways of how you intend to get to your goal.
Market yourself. Find the unique value you can offer others, and communicate this to them. After doing this, you will find that people will approach you for their own personal needs as well, which in turn may be the way for you to achieve your goal.
