As a beginner, you will need to learn the three basic types of bow and they include the Recurve bows which can be used for both beginners and experts as well. These Recurve bows are easier to pull back, they have an S shaped end and they are shorter than other bows. There is the traditional long bow which of course is longer but not as easy as the Recurve, you will need more strength to pull it back. Then there is the compound bow which is unique because it has ends with wheels. You can hold this type of bow longer without straining and it’s mainly used for hunting.

The next important thing that will help you become better that you will get from going for archery lessons are stance and loading. For the stance, you will be taught how to keep your shoulder and knees in their proper position so that you can aim better. With stance, you will be taught that your arms are the only part of the body that should move while your head alone turns to your target. Loading is basically how you load your arrow onto your bow and this will basically be about how you are going to face the odd colored fletching towards you and away from the bow.

Aiming is another basic thing that you will learn and for you to learn this, it is important that your stance is good. This is about aiming and drawing back your arrow underneath your eyes while keeping a straight back. It is important that when you aim, allow the fronts and back end of your arrow to be on a straight angle and you will get a perfect shooting.

For shooting, you need your elbows to be flexible but at the same time, your hands need to be straightened while holding the bow in place just ahead of you. Your shoulders shouldn’t be rigid and keep your three middle fingers in place that you will use for drawback.

Learning or improving on your archery skills will require you to tackle some minor but yet common problems that beginners usually face and that includes incorrect stance and hitting your are once you release the arrow. Once your stance is correct, you will find out that you will no longer hit yourself but to avoid bruising, you should consider using arm guards when going for archery lessons until you become perfect at it. Taking lessons on archery will help you master the art, it makes you more confident especially if you are preparing for a competition.
