One of the best practice tips that will help you become a better cellist whether you take cello lessons or not is your practice time. When we talk about practice time it simply means what time of the day is your prime time when you can easy learn to play your cello and get it with ease. When is your peak, is it early in the morning, is it during midday or do you feel the freshest at night? Whenever is your prime time, you should practice then. Whatever time works best for you, make sure you stick to it and be consistent. If you want, you can even divide your practice time or cello lessons into two times a day if practice once can be tiring for you.

The location of where you take your cello lessons and practice can greatly influence your learning process whether you think it or not. Cello is the kind of instrument that requires serenity when you want to learn it, you will need to find a quiet room when you get ready to learn the cello. You need an enclosed space where you won’t be disturbed, turn off the TV if it is one because it will disturb you, things that can distract you can include a CD player or IPod or music player devices. You need peace and quiet for this; even your phones should be off, for the practice time, making sure your voicemail gets all the calls. You can even rent a place outside your home for more privacy.

Another very important practice tip that will help your beginner cello lessons progress faster or your practice time go faster will be for you to gather your musical instruments together before the lesson even starts. Things that you will need to keep together or ready are things like a small chair that won’t be to high for you, keep your cello ready, get the music you want to learn ready, you will need a pencil to pen down all those difficult fingerings and passages and of course you will need a music stand and these are mainly the basic things you will need for a practice to go on. Always keep you practice materials intact and close by before the beginning of any lessons in case you are paying for your lessons by the hour, it won’t be a waste and if you have something doing after the practice, the earlier you start the better for you.

While still on the note of practice tips and cello lessons that will help a beginner to learn faster and play better, the length of your sessions matters a whole lot. Typically, the amount of time you spend practice doesn’t really matter but how much you can achieve within the amount of time spent is what really counts. If you have a schedule and you follow it daily, and maybe your daily schedule consists of two hours of practice consistently, this is good but the most important thing is that are you really getting something out of it or are you just daydreaming most of the time. You need to have a focus or purpose for practicing, concentrating on a particular mistake might be because you don’t actually concentrate while taking the lessons so you keep coming back to that particular mistake of your even though you spend half the day practicing. It is better for a beginner to focus on quality practice than getting quantity useless results despite the amount of time you waste everyday for practice.
